Hampton’s debaters are going from strength to strength, with an impressive haul of awards at the Magdalen College School Model United Nations (MUN) conference in Oxford.
MUN gives pupils the opportunity to engage in the key international issues of the day in a pupil-led simulation of the real United Nations. Representing Canada, Chad and South Africa, 13 Hamptonians debated topics such as the regulation of cryptocurrencies, sustainable water management, the UN recognition of Kosovo as well as solving an emergency resolution relating to nuclear warfare on Iran. Eleven Hamptonians won individual delegate awards and the team of seven boys representing Canada took home the coveted team award.
Mr Haig Agulian, one of the teachers who co-ordinates MUN at Hampton, was impressed with how the boys performed over the course of the weekend:
Another pleasing result for Hampton in the recent Magdalen College MUN conference. The boys go from strength to strength – we seem to have a growing number of budding politicians and diplomats!
