Two talented Hampton musicians have successfully auditioned for the National Youth Orchestra (NYO), one of the UK’s most prestigious ensembles for young musicians.

Pierce, a Fifth Year pupil who plays the viola, and Albert, a Fourth Year pupil and double bass player, have been selected to join the Orchestra for the coming year. They will perform alongside fellow Hamptonian Ralf, an Upper Sixth trumpeter who is already an established member of the NYO and will no doubt be able to offer some valuable advice as they begin their journey.

The NYO brings together some of the most gifted young musicians from across the country, offering members the opportunity to work with leading conductors, tutors and professional performers. Through rehearsals, residential courses and high-profile concerts at renowned venues, the programme provides an exceptional musical and personal development experience.

Selection for the NYO is a significant achievement and reflects the dedication, commitment and outstanding musicianship demonstrated by Pierce and Albert throughout the audition process.

Mr Daniel Roland, Director of Music, congratulated the young musicians:

I am extremely proud of Ralf, Pierce and Albert for gaining places in the NYO. This is an outstanding achievement and I have no doubt they will have an unforgettable experience playing with so many like-minded musicians! Well done, all!

Congratulations to Pierce, Albert and Ralf on this wonderful success. We look forward to following their musical adventures with the National Youth Orchestra over the year ahead.
