Hampton’s U12B football team produced a superb performance to be crowned national champions in the English Schools’ Football Association (ESFA) U12 9-a-side Schools’ Cup for B teams, securing a 2–0 victory over Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College in the final at Stoke City’s stadium.
The competition began with 151 teams and spanned eight demanding rounds, testing the footballers’ energy, effort and determination. Throughout, the First Year squad showed impressive teamwork and commitment, qualities that would again define their performance on the biggest stage.
Playing at a professional stadium provided a memorable backdrop, and the occasion was made all the more special by the strong support from travelling parents, whose encouragement rang out throughout the match. After a closely contested first half, Hampton stepped up a gear after the break. Two well-taken second-half goals secured a deserved victory, reflecting both their attacking quality and disciplined approach as a team.
While lifting the trophy was a fitting reward, the true significance of the day extended beyond the result. Representing the School on a national stage, sharing the experience with teammates, and performing in such a special setting are moments that will stay with the young footballers for years to come.
