Jim Reid OH (1992) is one of global finance’s most respected analysts. It is, in part, due to his Hampton education that Jim discovered his passion for the world of finance after a last-minute A Level switch to Economics at Hampton in 1990 – two weeks into the Autumn term.

Now Head of Global Macro Research at Deutsche Bank, Jim’s insights shape decisions across markets. His daily ‘Early Morning Reid’ report is widely regarded as the most-read investment-bank research note on the Street, reaching tens of thousands of A-list financiers. A sought-after media commentator, Jim blends economic history with sharp market analysis to make sense of the world today and the outlook for the future.

Jim spoke about economic history and its effects to Hamptonians from across the year groups, parents, friends and partner school pupils in a packed Hammond Theatre. After his presentation, a brief Q & A session led to some insightful questions being asked from the audience about the future of economics, and also advice on how to start a career in finance.
