Hampton’s Chess Team has been crowned 2025 National Chess Champions after winning the English Chess Federation’s National Schools’ Championships. Hampton was one of 26 teams to reach the prestigious final, claiming the title following a series of exceptional performances.

The victorious team brought together talent from across the year groups, with Luoke, Jai, Tom, Alex and Anirudh all contributing to the national triumph. Team Captain Rajat celebrated the victory before racing straight from the competition to the airport to continue his personal pursuit of the Grandmaster title.

Winning the English Schools’ Championship earned Hampton a place at the World Schools’ Team Chess Championship, which took place over the summer holidays in Washington D.C. A slightly revised Hampton squad travelled to the United States, once again featuring Tom, Jai, Alex, Anirudh and Luoke.

The team continued their outstanding form on the international stage, finishing joint third overall and ranking as the highest‑placed school in Europe. Congratulations to everyone involved — we are incredibly proud of your achievements!
