Congratulations to the Hampton School Boat Club on a fantastic season which culminated with our two senior boats racing at this year’s Henley Royal Regatta (HRR).
The crew of the Second VIII were delighted to book their place at the most prestigious rowing event of the season qualifying to race in the university-dominated Temple Challenge Cup.
Plaudits also go to our First VIII who enjoyed one of the most successful Henley performances of the past decade for the School, progressing through three rounds of the Princess Elizabeth Cup to reach Saturday’s semi-final race. It was a fitting end to a superb season which has seen Hampton rowers compete at the very top level of the sport.
The community support on show for the rowers was exceptional with Hampton’s iconic ‘Yellow and Black’ blazers everywhere to be seen – added to by the warm and wholehearted cheers of families and friends including our neighbours at LEH, who were kitted out in their unmistakeable ‘Red and White’ stripes.
Captain of Boats, Harry Oliver, said the crew were immensely grateful for all the support commenting on how wonderful it was to hear the chants of ‘Come on Hampton’ drowning out all other sound as their boat approached the Regatta and Stewards’ Enclosures in all four of their races. Thank you to all our oarsmen, coaches, alumni and families who made this year’s HRR such a memorable occasion for the School.
