Football

The Hampton community is gearing up for a trip to Stoke City FC in the first week of May, after the First XI reached the final of the U18 English Schools’ Football Association (ESFA) Cup. A total of 374 teams started the competition in September and an epic 3-2 semi-final win against Forest School secured Hampton’s place in the final of the prestigious national competition. This is the second time in five years that our footballers have reached the U18 ESFA final, which will be a memorable whole-School occasion.

There have been close to 215 football matches across all ages and abilities this term. Other highlights include the Second XI reaching the final of the London ISFA Cup, the U16A team will contest the County Cup in a match against Sutton Grammar School next term, while our U15A footballers will play in the Elgin Cup Final against Aldenham School after the Easter break.

Rugby

The Rugby Sevens season culminated in some excellent performances, with over 90 fixtures played across the age groups. Our First, U16 and U14 squads all performed strongly at the Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s.

There were finals appearances for our First VII in the Hampton Founders’ Day 7s, and our U14s at the Warwick 7s. The U15s brought home the Plate from the Sedbergh tournament, and Hampton’s U16s won the Surrey Plate competition and the RGS Guildford Shield.

ROWING

The 2023 Hampton Fours and Eights Head saw over 400 crews from across the country competing at what is one of the most prestigious and long-running events in the rowing calendar. Our oarsmen chalked up some superb results throughout the day, with a superb first and second place finish in the J14 octuple event. The senior rowers took home a Silver medal in the J18 coxless fours.

At the Schools’ Head of the River race, the J16 First and Second VIII both finished in the top three in their respective events. The main sculling event of the season, the Oarsport Junior Sculling Head at Dorney Lake, saw the J15A and the J14B octuples win Gold medals in their respective races, and the J14A octuple bring home a well-deserved Silver medal.

Cross Country

Hampton’s runners excelled at this year’s Middlesex Cross Country Championships, with Third Year athlete Marcus Solomon defending his title in convincing style to win Gold in the U15 event. Marcus, along with Upper Sixth Former Henry Fagan, represented Middlesex at the English Schools’ Cross Country Championships held in Nottingham.
