Hamptonians from the History & Archives Club came together to create a documentary for Founders’ Day 2022.
With the assistance of History teachers Mrs Willcox and Mrs Arnott, three enthusiastic members of the History & Archives Club started the term with the goal of creating an educational documentary on Hampton’s founders and benefactors. The pupils did detailed research on Robert Hammond, Nicholas Pigeon, Edmund Pigeon, Captain John Jones and Nathaniel Lacey. From this knowledge they plotted a three part film that explained these important figures’ history.
The first part tackled Robert Hammond’s initial founding of a “howse with seates in yt for children to be towght in.”
The second part of the documentary explains what happens when the land in Hampton fell into the hands of Edmund and Nicholas Pigeon.
In our final documentary, we go down by the River Thames to discover the story of Captain John Jones and Nathaniel Lacey.
The documentary was screened in the final assembly of the year on Founders’ Day to a Main Hall full of engaged Hamptonians.
Well done to Archer, Dylan, Joshua, Mrs Wilcox, Mrs Arnott and the Website & Media Department for their hard work and dedication in producing this series of documentaries!
