Two Hampton pupils have achieved recent musical success in competitions and academy selection.

Third Year Hamptonian Max Carter has been offered a place at the Junior Academy of the Royal Academy of Music to study classical guitar. Max will begin attending masterclasses in the autumn term. The Junior Academy inspires and challenges talented young musicians from across the country. Max will take part in one-to-one lessons, specialist classes and a variety of performance opportunities to aid his development as a musician.

Fourth Year musician Edmund Ng has enjoyed success at the Coulsdon & Purley Festival. Edmund won the Elizabeth Sutcliffe Cup (for the most promising pianist under 16 years of age who entered at least two classes). Edmund also won two cups and the Bursary Class at the Sutton Music Festival at the end of 2021. This included the Beethoven Junior Cup and the Piano Ensemble Cup, for the best duet performance alongside his brother Second Year Hamptonian Harry.

Mr Daniel Roland, Director of Music at Hampton, congratulated the pupils on their achievments:

It is such a joy to see pupils across multiple year groups achieving such impressive musical accolades. Many congratulations to Max and Edmund!
