There were rave reviews for this year’s Sixth Form production of the Oscar Wilde classic, The Importance of Being Earnest.
Directed by Upper Sixth Form pupil Tom Ketel, the cast of nine senior pupils from Hampton and Lady Eleanor Holles flexed their comedic acting abilities, much to the enjoyment of the audience. The more intimate location of the Drama Hall, allowed the audience to immerse themselves in the nuances of the play, set in late Victorian England, and fully appreciate the actors’ performances.
The Importance of Being Earnest tells the story of the protagonist, Jack Worthing, who creates a fictional brother ‘Ernest’ to escape his monotonous country life. Hilarity and confusion ensues when his friend Algernon poses as this made up brother.
The play’s director, Tom, praised the cast for their hard work and commitment:
Directing this year’s Sixth Form play has certainly taken me out of my comfort zone. The cast and crew have made this production and experience so much greater than I could have ever imagined.
