A packed Hammond Theatre audience was treated to a compelling insight into UK and international affairs from Fraser Nelson, leading columnist at The Times and former editor of The Spectator.
Observing that history is being made week by week, Mr Nelson drew on some of The Times’ recent editorial cartoons to shed light on many of the crises currently reshaping global and domestic power. From the deepening conflict in the Middle East and its shockwaves through global markets, to President Trump’s unpredictable approach to international diplomacy, Fraser Nelson warned that long-standing geopolitical norms are being fundamentally challenged.
He also offered his analysis of the seismic political shifts underway closer to home with the demise of the traditional two-horse race between the Conservatives and Labour amid the rise of other parties such as Reform and the Greens.
The event drew Hamptonians from across the year groups, alongside members of the wider Hampton community and pupils from partner school Reach Academy and concluded with a lively question-and-answer session.
