Hampton’s annual Steinway Scholarship celebrates the depth and breadth of musical talent across the School, offering one pianist the chance to extend their performance skills through specialist coaching and a recital at the renowned Steinway Hall.

Each year, shortlisted musicians perform in a final round held in the Hammond Theatre before a specialist judging panel, comprising Director of Music Mr Roland, a representative from Steinway Hall and an external adjudicator. The winning finalist is awarded the prestigious title of Steinway Scholar and invited to undertake exclusive coaching sessions with a distinguished Steinway Artist, culminating in a solo recital on the Steinway Hall stage.

This year’s Steinway Scholar, Fifth Year Theo T, has spent the past twelve months working under the guidance of internationally acclaimed pianist Danny Driver. Theo’s recital was enjoyed by an appreciative audience, including family members, teachers and fellow music enthusiasts who gathered to support his performance.

His thoughtfully curated programme featured Beethoven’s Sonata in C Minor and Debussy’s Le plus que lente: Valse. Theo’s poised, expressive playing and musical maturity were warmly received, marking a significant milestone in his musical journey.Congratulations to Theo on his achievements; we look forward to seeing where his musicianship will take him next.
