First Year Hamptonians swapped the classroom for the countryside as they enjoyed a fascinating day of outdoor learning on their annual Geography Field Trip to the South Downs National Park.
Set against the backdrop of the Park’s spectacular rolling chalk hills, pupils explored the stunning landscape while learning about the area’s unique geographical features first-hand. They used OS maps to study contour lines, discovered how layers of sedimentary rock formed the South Downs, and discussed big topics like land use, conservation, and sustainable farming — all while surrounded by the very scenery they were studying.
The walking trail treated the Hamptonians to some spectacular sights, including far-reaching views of the English Channel and the dramatic Devil’s Dyke — the longest and deepest dry valley in the UK.
It was a brilliant day of hands-on learning, fresh air, and adventure — the perfect way for First Year Hamptonians to bring their Geography lessons to life!
