There were joyful scenes in the Cloisters today as Hamptonians from the Class of 2025 gathered with families and friends to celebrate an impressive set of A Level results. Half the year group – 98 pupils – achieved a clean sweep of the top grades (A* or A); 72% of grades were A*-A; and over 91% of all results were awarded at A*, A or B.
An impressive 34 Hamptonians secured three or more A* grades, and over 34% of all grades awarded were A*. Captain of Chess Rajat celebrated a flawless set of four A* grades, confirming his place to read Economics at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge. Rajat – who hopes to soon achieve the title of Grandmaster – led the School’s victorious team at the 2025 English Schools’ Chess Championships.
Senior sportsmen also had much to celebrate. Captain of Boats and World Rowing Champion Harry received a set of top grades ahead of beginning his rowing scholarship at Northeastern University in Boston. He is one of nine Hamptonians this year with offers from prestigious overseas universities.
Following a 2024-25 season to remember, including national and regional titles, Hampton footballers combined sporting glory with academic success. Our rugby players also achieved excellent results: Eddie and Max both received A* and A grades, while Adam’s 4A* grades secured his place to study Economics at St John’s College, Cambridge.
Cricket Captain Anuj takes up his place at Queen Mary University of London Medical School, while teammate Natty heads to Oxford to read Classics and Ancient History. Anuj is one of several Hamptonians set to study Medicine alongside professional football referee Sam, and accomplished violinist Yangzi who head to the Universities of Oxford and Southhampton respectively.
Fellow string players Declan (Computer Science, Oxford) and Harry (English, Cambridge) both achieved a full house of A* grades. Star percussionists Ben and Sohan were in harmony yet again as they shared eight A* grades between them – both will read Natural Sciences at Cambridge.
Tech whizz Tommy is set to embark on a prestigious software development engineer degree apprenticeship with Amazon following an exceptional set of A Level results – a remarkable opportunity that highlights the diverse and wide-ranging pathways pursued by the Class of 2025.
The Headmaster, Kevin Knibbs, offered warm congratulations:
‘”Our Class of 2025 can be delighted with their A Level results, which have secured places on prestigious courses at top UK and overseas universities. These impressive outcomes are thoroughly deserved and represent just reward for our Leavers’ whole-hearted commitment to Hampton life. Alongside their academic studies, this admirable year group has embraced every opportunity available here – on the sports field, in the concert hall, on stage, and via involvement in our community partnerships.
It was lovely to see Hamptonians’ joyful celebrations of each other’s successes, along with due recognition of their families’ support and the expert guidance of my colleagues, who continue to provide the very best academic support and pastoral care.
We thank our departing Upper Sixth and wish them every happiness in the next chapter of their lives. We’ll always be here for you, and never forget: once a Hamptonian, always a Hamptonian.”
