“A fabulous toe-tapping production from start to finish.“
The joint Senior School Production 42nd Street has been awarded ‘Best Musical’ at the National School Theatre Awards. The production sold-out across four nights and showcased the phenomenal talent at both schools.
Attending the awards ceremony at the Gillian Lynne Theatre on Drury Lane, the cast performed a show-stopping tap and vocal rendition of We’re in the Money with Hampton Upper Sixth Former Oli Lacey taking centre stage with his dazzling footwork.
Director of Drama at Hampton, Mrs Alice Jones congratulated all involved:
All the performers were exceptional and conducted themselves like true professionals and it was a joy to see both schools work so closely together. Seeing our pupils perform on a West End stage and taking home the Best Musical Award was an incredibly proud moment and I would like to thank all of the staff involved in making this happen.
The Headmaster, Kevin Knibbs, offered warm congratulations:
Joint LEH-Hampton drama productions date back many decades and they seek to get better every year. Our latest collaboration, 42nd Street, was spectacular and really showcased the talent, skill and dedication of pupils and colleagues at both schools. The recognition that they’ve received at the National Schools Theatre Awards is throughly deserved!
LEH Head, Rowena Cole, added:
Everyone is immensely proud of the entire cast and crew, and it is wonderful to see the pupils of LEH and Hampton School enjoy such success together.
