Congratulations to Upper Sixth Former Nick Lynagh on his professional contract with Harlequins’ Senior Academy.

A clear talent from an early age, the Hamptonian started playing for the First XV as a Fifth Year but has been hampered by injury in recent months.

Nick is the second Lynagh to graduate from Hampton to Quins as he follows in the footsteps of his older brother and former Hampton Rugby Captain, Louis OH (2019), who has represented Italy and is currently playing with Benetton. A third Lynagh brother, Tom, was also a member of the Harlequins academy before signing with Australian team, the Queensland Reds. The brothers all herald from rugby royalty, as the sons of Wallaby legend Michael Lynagh AM who earned 72 Test caps, including 12 as Australian Captain. Mr Lynagh says he was delighted to hear the news:

We are all very proud of Nick. It’s been a tough year with injuries for him, but he’s handled the situation brilliantly. His resilience and talent have been rewarded with this chance with the Harlequins Academy and we’re all certain that he will excel at whatever he chooses to do.

Nick is one of eleven young players joining Quins pre-season, where they’ll join the First Team in preparation for the 2025/26 campaign. He says it’s a dream come true:

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to realise what has been a dream of mine since childhood, and I am forever grateful for those who have helped me along the journey – very excited for what’s to come!

Speaking on behalf of Hampton, Director of Rugby Mr Beattie congratulated Nick on his signing:

Everyone at Hampton is delighted for Nick. A talented Winger, he’s been an important part of Hampton rugby since joining the School in Third Year and is much-admired and well-liked by all. We look forward to watching him continue to develop as a player with Quins.
