Over the Easter holidays, 18 Sixth Form cricketers travelled to Barbados for the biennial Senior Cricket Tour. The trip was an enormous success, with Hamptonians immersing themselves in the vibrant culture of Barbados, while showcasing their cricketing prowess under the Caribbean sun.

The team played six fixtures during the ten-day tour, securing victories in five of their games. Each game was fiercely contested, with the players demonstrating exceptional skill and teamwork in the warm conditions. The tour provided a valuable opportunity for the senior cricketers to hone their bowling and batting techniques on world-class pitches against formidable opponents.

A standout moment of the tour was the thrilling match against Barbados Select XI at the iconic Kensington Oval Ground. The First XI faced a challenging target of 290 runs off 50 overs. Ollie Hamilton led the charge with an outstanding score of 82 not out, supported by stellar batting performances from James Eggleton and captain Anuj Srivastav. Crucial partnerships lower down the batting order ensured the Hampton squad successfully chased the run total. It wasn’t just the batters who excelled in the match, Richard Page’s spectacular one-handed boundary catch was a highlight for everyone in the ground.

Taking a break from cricket, the senior Hamptonians also enjoyed a sightseeing bus tour around the island, which provided plenty of opportunities to explore the country’s rich cultural heritage. They also spent the day at The Boatyard Beach Club where activities included beach volleyball, snorkelling, and an ocean trampoline!

Mr Ami Banerjee, Head of Cricket, was delighted with the success of the tour:

Playing cricket in Barbados is extremely special and I hope the tour will provide lifetime memories for those involved. We now look forward to an exciting domestic season on what is always a very competitive school circuit.
