The joint Hampton and LEH Choral Society staged a superb concert in the Hammond Theatre.
Over 180 musicians and singers have been rehearsing since December under the expert guidance of Director of Music, Mr Roland. All their hard work culminated in an unforgettable evening of beautiful choral music. Proceedings began with Haydn’s tumultuous Insanae et Vanae Curae followed by his iconic Nelson Mass: Missa in Angustiis. The packed Hammond audience was also treated to Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, and Lili Boulanger’s epic impressionist work: Vieille Priére Bouddhique.
The choir was joined by professional soloists Kirsty McLean (Soprano), Stephanie Franklin (Alto), James Gilchrist (Tenor) and 2009 alumnus Michael Craddock OH (Bass). Upper Sixth form violinist Declan also treated us to a wonderful rendition of de Bériot’s playful Scène de Ballet.
Mr Roland commented:
Back to All ArticlesThere are no words to describe how proud I am of this incredible group of musicians. The programme was exceptionally ambitious, but everyone invested a huge amount of hard work and the final result was outstanding. I cannot thank those involved enough – the Hampton staff and pupils, LEH staff and pupils, Choral Society members and our professional visiting musicians. Certainly a night I will never forget!
