Hampton’s Junior Swim team made the short trip to LEH School to compete in this year’s Richmond Schools’ Swimming Championships.
A team of 20 First to Fourth Year Hamptonians enjoyed a successful day in the pool. Over 150 swimmers from schools across the local area took part in the gala, competing in events ranging from individual freestyle to medley relays.
First Year pupils William J, Henry M and Alex B finished first in the Breaststroke, Butterfly and Freestyle events, respectively, a feat matched by Second Year Bruno E H in the Backstroke race and Daniel S in his Freestyle event. Third Year Nathaniel O achieved a double victory in the 25m and 50m Freestyle races. Nathaniel has been selected by the English Schools’ Swimming Association to join the team representing England at the U15 World School Games in Serbia during the Easter holidays. A superb achievement by Nathaniel and a great opportunity to experience swimming at the highest level of competition.
There was also success in the team events with wins in seven out of the eight boys’ relay events. This a phenomenal achievement by our young athletes, and combined with the individual events, the Hampton team won the overall boys’ competition at this year’s gala.
Second Year Daniel and Third Year Nathaniel will join our two senior swimmers, Finn A and Archie H to make up our senior team at this year’s Bath Cup and John Nelson Medley Relays held at the London Aquatic Centre later this term.
Well done to all our swimmers who took part in the gala, and good luck for the rest of the year!
