Hampton’s Class of 2024 and their families are celebrating superb A Level results, with 41% of grades at A* and over three-quarters of grades at A*-A. Overall, 45 Hamptonians recorded three or more A*s, and a remarkable 25 were awarded four straight A*s.
These exceptional outcomes ensure our Leavers will follow their predecessors in embarking upon a broad range of prestigious degree courses at leading UK and US universities. Indeed, an impressive 45 members of our Class of 2024 have today confirmed their places at Global Top-10 academic institutions.
Ishaan Das and Caleb Weinstein followed up their national French Debating title earlier this year with four A* grades apiece. Ishaan, who also achieved one of the top marks nationally in Further Maths, will now read the subject at the University of Oxford. Caleb has already begun his undergraduate studies at Duke University, North Carolina and is one of a number of Hamptonians moving on to US colleges.
Many among the year group’s sportsmen lived up to Hamptonians’ distinctive reputation for combining academic and all-round excellence. GB Gymnast, Rex Booth, and Finlay Wiseman (Rugby Captain) both celebrated A*, A, A grades; leading UK Junior Decathlete Kieran Bouwmeester-Reid added three A*s to his record-breaking track & field exploits. Cricket Captain, Naavya Sharma, added four A*s to his equally stellar bowling achievements this summer, including as lead wicket-taker in the recent England U19 series victory over Sri Lanka. Captain of Boats, Theo Elliott, is heading to the University of Oxford to read Chemistry, and is among 72 Hamptonians who will be reading for Maths, Science or Engineering degrees.
Our musicians also celebrated excellent results, fresh from their sell-out success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where they attracted 5* reviews as part of Hampton’s ever-popular Voices of Lions choir. Several among them will continue their Music studies, including prodigiously talented pianist and saxophonist Tomás Escobar, who takes up a place at the Royal College of Music.
Hampton’s longstanding reputation for championing Modern Languages was further enhanced, with ten 2024 Leavers choosing a language-related degree, including three of the School Captains team. Josh Hood and Harry McLusky are heading to the University of Cambridge; Oscar Tejura will read Law with French at Oxford University.
The Headmaster, Kevin Knibbs, offered his personal congratulations:
“These exceptionally strong academic results are testament to the talent, endeavour and dedication of our Class of 2024; their places on competitive courses at leading universities are just reward for their hard work. They have so much to celebrate together, as do their families and my teaching and support staff colleagues, who have supported them so splendidly along the way.
I have huge admiration for this group of Hamptonians and thank them for their enthusiastic all-round commitment to School life, alongside all they contributed to upholding Hampton’s distinctively warm, friendly and purposeful culture. Our 2024 Leavers have epitomised our values, and they certainly lived up to our ‘Seriously Excellent; Seriously Fun’ maxim.
We wish our Leavers every success in the exciting next chapters of their lives. They’ll always be part of the Hampton family and we’ll be delighted to welcome them back in the future.”
