Hamptonians were joined by partner school pupils and members of the local community for a lively and engaging General Election hustings.
Five of the six parties campaigning to win the Twickenham seat were represented, and candidates addressed a packed Main Hall on a range of issues. Questions, submitted in advance, were read out by a number of our Politics cohort, under the expert guidance of Sixth Former, and School Captain team member Omer Demiral.
Fellow Lower Sixth Former and School Captain, Alec Hamilton, expertly chaired the hour and a half discussion which covered issues encompassing the cost of living, education, foreign policy and trust. In closing the hustings, Alec asked the candidates to tell the younger people in the audience about one policy or measure they would introduce that would benefit the voters of the future.
Thank you to all who attended what was a lively, respectful and engaging debate in advance of the General Election on Thursday 4 July.
