The Writers’ Room welcomed pupils from Lady Eleanor Holles (LEH) for a lunchtime creative writing workshop.
The LEH pupils joined forces with aspiring authors from Hampton School and were tasked with creating a story opener based on an extract from Sandra Cisneros’ novel, The House of Mango Street. The pupils were given a series of photos from which to choose their main character; they also chose a name for that person and were challenged to write a story inspired by the name of their protagonist.
With creative juices flowing, a wonderful array of stories was imagined from a captured Egyptian princess to the keeper of the keys, who opened doors for other people but not for himself.
