David Lammy, MP
Shadow Foreign Secretary & Labour MP for Tottenham
Friday 4 November
12.45pm – 13.30pm
(Doors open at 12.30pm)
We are delighted that David Lammy, Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs and the Labour MP for Tottenham is joining us at Hampton for our next lunchtime Talk!
One of the country’s most prominent politicians, David Lammy has enjoyed a swift rise up the Labour ranks since becoming an MP at the age of 27, being appointed a government minister first under Tony Blair and then under Gordon Brown. Since Labour returned to the opposition benches in 2010, he has served in a range of shadow frontbench roles covering business, education, and justice, before being promoted to his current position as Shadow Foreign Secretary by Sir Keir Starmer last year.
David has been at the forefront of British politics for nearly two decades and is a passionate campaigner for social justice and racial equality – he has degrees from SOAS and was the first black Briton to study a Master’s in Law at Harvard Law School, graduating in 1997 and working as a barrister before entering the House of Commons.
During what are increasingly turbulent times for our politicians, don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear from, and ask questions to, one of the UK’s most respected and influential MPs.
