This year’s Senior School Musical saw pupils from Hampton School and Lady Eleanor Holles come together for a spectacular production of Guys and Dolls.
After six weeks of hard work and dedication, the sell-out performances were met with rapturous applause from audiences across the week. Pupils from both schools gave it their all, and sang their hearts out each and every night. Particular mention must go to the lead actors, with Anastasia Hotchin as Sarah Brown, Henry Ward as Sky Masterson, Leah Dawson as Adelaide and Ben Francis as Nathan Detroit. Their renditions of classics tunes, such as Luck be a Lady and A Woman in Love, were accompanied by the Guys and Dolls band’s musical excellence.
Guys and Dolls features the music and lyrics of Frank Loesser, which tells the story of a gambler who is challenged to take a missionary to Havana. To immerse audiences in the classical musical, the Hammond Theatre team transformed the stage into a lively 1950s New York street, that perfectly set the stage for our performers.
Head of Drama at Hampton School, Mrs Jo James, praised the cast, crew and orchestra:
Back to All ArticlesWith the pressure on to produce a full-scale Senior School Musical in just six weeks, to an audience bereft of theatre for over a year, everyone has worked so hard throughout the process. They have exceeded all of my expectations and have been absolutely phenomenal! I am truly thankful for all their enthusiasm and commitment; it has been a wonderful (yet busy!) journey.
