FOOTBALL – MLS

The Hampton D-G team footballers are having a great time competing in a Major League Soccer tournament this term. Adam (2J) tells us more about it:

On Monday afternoon the Hampton MLS league kicked off with: LA Galaxy beating New York Red Bulls 3-2 in a tight game; Colorado Rapids losing 7-4 to Chicago Fire; and Chivas USA beating Inter Miami 5-3. Next week sees Colorado play LA; Chicago playing Chivas; and New York playing Miami.

JUNIOR QUIZ TEAM TRIALS

Trials for the Junior Quiz Team took place this week, from which a squad to compete in the Schools Challenge competition will be selected!

Adam (2B) tells us more:

On Monday and Thursday lunchtime, quiz team try outs were held. First and Second Year pupils were trying out for a spot on the quiz team, which is competing throughout the Spring and Summer Terms. Participants were asked 60 general knowledge questions, varying between many topics, such as geography and history.

Some sample questions:

  • What state is Denver in?
  • Who was the first Hanoverian King of England?
  • What is the fifth word in this sentence?

How do you think you would have fared?

String Concert

A number of Second Years took part in the String Concert on Tuesday. It was a very varied programme from Bach and Beethoven to Tico-Tico and Keane. Some of the best string players in School performed and there was also a short performance by some of the instrumental teachers. Well done to everyone that took part!
