Our junior mathematicians were crowned regional champions for the second year running in the UK Maths Trust, Junior Maths Team Challenge competition. Held at Trinity School, Croydon, 34 teams took part in this challenging tournament which stretches the mathematical abilities of boys in the Second and Third Years. Hampton and Caterham School were the joint 2019 winners and will now compete in the national finals at the Royal Horticultural Halls, London on Monday 17 June.

This year’s winning team included Second Years Henry Ayres and George Berressem along with Third Years Krishna Wijayasingam and Akshat Mathur. Akshat who has enjoyed success with the team for the past two years, says it was a very tough challenge:

The questions seemed much harder this year and we lost a few points which was a little worrying. To hear that we were the joint winners was very rewarding and I am very proud of all the team.
