It was a busy week of sports fixtures last weekend and I am pleased to have received reports from the Rugby matches. The First Year rugby teams played against St Paul’s and had what sounded like some very good matches! Adam G (1W) told me:

The boys started off exceptionally well and scored some excellent tries, with Isaac T (1P) scoring four. He also made some try-saving tackles. St Paul’s were a tougher opponent and scored two tries. However, St Paul’s pulled back and won the match. The Hampton boys all played excellently and made a massive improvement on Friday’s training session.

There are also some big football fixtures against Sutton Grammar School today and we’re looking forward to hearing how the boys gets on in these next week.

Speaking of next week, it is set to be very busy, as the First Years go out on their first academic day trips of the year. It should be lots of fun and an excellent opportunity to learn lots which will be relevant back at School as the boys head out to the South Downs with the Geography department and to Windsor Castle for their History trip. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Next week also sees the start of ‘No Limits Week’, when the boys are being encouraged to try out one or two new activities at lunchtime in order to broaden their horizons. We hope to see a number of the First Year boys really getting involved in this and seizing the opportunity to try something new. Who knows, they might uncover a hitherto unfounded passion!

Mr Hill has been really pleased to note the amount of boys arriving at his Office to collect Merit Certificates so far this term. This week, Umar K (1B), Ronit R (1P), Aadil S (1P), Rahul R (1B), Isaac C (1H), Thomas D (1H), Omer D (1H), Sam G (1J), Elliot B (1W), Archie H (1W), Gabriel M (1W), Vaibhav N (1W) and William N (1W) all collected certificates and there have been an outstanding numbers of merits collected thus far this term. Well done to all and hopefully we will see a few more boys collecting certificates in the coming weeks. Congratulations, too, to Ryan M (1W) who is this week’s Tutee of the Week! Ryan was chosen after his excellent attitude at Avon Tyrrell, his positive attitude to School life and the kindness he always shows towards his peers at Hampton.

On a final note, can I say how much the whole First Year team are looking forward to welcoming you to Hampton for Pastoral Forum on Monday night. Please don’t forget that Mr Hill’s talks will be at 7pm and 8pm.

Well done, everyone, on making it this far – let’s make the last week before Half Term a good one!
