On Saturday 10 September local prep and primary schools took part in the 16th annual Hampton Five-a-Side Football tournament. 38 teams from 16 schools competed in two age categories, Year 5 and Year 6 and played fixtures throughout the morning in order to determine the overall victors.
Despite the rainy conditions, standards of football were high. St Stephen’s Primary School and The Harrodian School shared the honours in the Year 6 category. Meanwhile Durston House won the Year 5 competition. Kew College School and Westward School finished as runners up.
Headmaster, Kevin Knibbs, said the event was a great success:
It was wonderful to see so many young footballers from the local community enjoying themselves and they demonstrated impressive ability allied with great sportsmanship. Congratulations to all the schools involved and we wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.
