It’s been great to see so many clubs getting started over the last few days, and I know that many more will begin for the first time next week. Volleyball, Basketball, Radio, Science, Bridge, Geography and Fencing are just a few of the great activities the boys have been getting involved in so far. I know many of them will be looking forward to the likes of Drama Club and Indoor Cricket beginning soon too!
Last Saturday saw the U12A and B Rugby teams pulling on their Hampton strips for the first time against Caldicott Prep School. Cameron Hill captained the A team on the day and reports that: “Caldicott were a strong opposition for our squad only formed two weeks ago. We competed throughout and were rewarded in the final play of the game with a well worked try by Henry Donaldson”. The final score Caldicott 35 Hampton 5. Ollie Tynan captained the B team in back to back matches and tells us that: “Caldicott were a strong side, we fought till the very last minute though, almost scoring on a number of occasions, in the end the score was 30-0 and 25-0”. Best of luck to the Rugby players for their fixtures this weekend, I look forward to seeing how they get on.
Meanwhile the U12 Footballers have been training hard and are looking forward to kicking off the season against Glyn School this weekend. We wish them all the best for their first match.
This week we have been reflecting on what we learned at Avon Tyrrell, and it’s been great to see some of the key lessons learned there being used in the school setting. Listening to each other and working as a team are skills that will continue to develop as the year progresses. I am delighted that this week’s Tutee of the Week has demonstrated some of these excellent skills. Arjan Sian has been selected as this week’s Tutee of the Week due to the excellent, enthusiastic and thought provoking contributions that he has made to 1J’s Tutor time.

And finally, many thanks in advance to all the boys who will be helping out at Open Morning tomorrow. Whether you’re offering guided tours, helping in departments or representing the School in a sports fixture, you are the best possible advertisement we could have.
Mr T. Hill
