The Model United Nations (MUN) calendar culminated in the highly anticipated Haileybury MUN, the largest and most prestigious conference in the UK.
Eleven Hamptonians from Third Year to Upper Sixth attended 2025 Haileybury MUN (HMUN). This year was the 30th anniversary of HMUN and their biggest conference to date, with over 800 delegates in attendance. Haileybury is now the largest school-led MUN event in the world.
Hampton delegates represented the countries of Guyana and Cuba with the usual array of interesting, topical issues to address through debate and diplomacy. Some of the more unique topics included organ trafficking, protection of polar habitats, the use of sonic weapons in warfare and foreign interference in national elections.
MUN stalwarts, Sam G and Isaac C, chaired the Disarmament & International Security Committee and Ecology & Environment Committee. This was their final conference for Hampton and a very fitting end to seven years of superb, committed service to MUN and wide-ranging success in this co-curricular activity.
Over the course of the weekend, Hampton delegates made 41 speeches, raised 68 points of information, and attempted to make 74 amendments to resolutions. Our delegates submitted a total of ten resolutions and Gabriel K managed to pass his resolution on the regulation of private arms companies in the Disarmament & International Security Committee – a phenomenal achievement.
All the Hamptonians were superb ambassadors for their respective countries, and several of our delegates picked up awards at the closing ceremony:
Highly Commended Delegate
Xavier F (Cuba) – Economic & Social Committee
Vihaan K (Cuba) – Conference Special Committee
Distinguished Delegate
Gabriel K (Cuba) – Disarmament & International Security Committee
Digby J (Guyana) – Technology & AI Committee – Third Year Hamptonian Digby has won an individual award in every single conference he has participated in this year
Felix R (Guyana) – Human Rights Committee
The delegation of Cuba won a coveted distinguished delegation team award. Only five teams received this award, amongst the delegations attending the conference, so this is a remarkable achievement.
The Cuban Delegation
Vihaan K, Gabriel K, Xavier F and Leander K-B.
The HMUN marks the final MUN conference for Upper Sixth Hamptonians Sam G, Isaac C and Rishi V, who have been an enormous support in running the weekly MUN Club and helping to train, enthuse and inspire the younger delegates. They are fantastic role models and embody everything that is special about the spirit of MUN.
