An excellent Autumn Term for Hampton’s runners

The cross country team has been busy this term. After encouraging results in the King’s Trophy on Wimbledon Common, our cross-country runners performed brilliantly in the Richmond Borough Championships.

Hampton won the overall competition and finished as the best team in the combined Second and Third Year race, the best team in the combined Fourth and Fifth race, the best team in the combined Lower and Upper Sixth race and the second fastest team in the First Year’s race.

Particular congratulations go to Freddie Hodgson, who won the U15 race, and Alex Hickmott, the winner in the U19 category. The Hampton runners-up were Robert Sapsford in the U15 race, Eitan Orenstein in the U17 race and Joe Spicer in the U19 Race

Finally, last Wednesday the School held the combined Hampton-St Pauls’ 24 minute three-man Paarlauf around our fields. This involves a relay, where the three-man teams try to cover as much distance as possible in a set time.  Again Hampton’s athletes ran extremely well to medal in all three age groups against strong opposition with teams from six schools. The results were:

3rd in the U15 race, running 4 miles 792 metres in 24 minutes: Sam Southall, Robert Sapsford and Matthieu Hildreth – Bronze medals

2nd in the U17 race running 4miles 1483 metres in 24 minutes: Harry Vincent, Gabriel Lewis and James Milton – Silver medals

2nd in the U19 race running 5miles 02 metres in 24 minutes: Alex Hickmott, Joe Spicer and Roland Blackmore – Silver medals
