Academic Departments

At Hampton, academic excellence is founded on curiosity, ambition and a genuine love of learning. Across every department, pupils are encouraged to think critically, engage deeply with their subjects and develop the confidence to explore ideas independently. Guided by expert teachers, Hamptonians benefit from a rich and challenging education that prepares them for success at School, university and beyond.

Learning Support

Learning Support provides tailored support to pupils who are academically able but may benefit from additional assistance to fulfil their potential.

Our experienced team works closely with pupils, parents and teachers to ensure that every Hamptonian can access the curriculum with confidence and develop the skills needed to thrive both academically and personally. Support may include specialist literacy guidance, study and organisational skills, mentoring, revision strategies, examination preparation and assistance for pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Further information is available in our SEND Policy.

Library

The Mason Library comprises of a quiet reading room, an IT area with specially-designed workstations for laptops, printing facilities, and a quiet study area.

The Library includes a collection of over 27,000 resources, including fiction, non-fiction and reference books, a wide range of journals and periodicals, and a selection of daily newspapers. The Library also subscribes to a range of digital information resources which are used across all subjects, including ClickView and PressReader, which provide online access to hundreds of films, documentaries, newspapers and magazines. All of our online resources can be accessed from the Library site on the School’s Intranet (SharePoint).

New pupils joining the School are introduced to the Library at the earliest opportunity. In Sixth Form, information is available on avoiding plagiarism, referencing, and constructing a bibliography, skills which are required by the Hampton Extended Learning Project (HELP), and which will be essential when Hamptonians leave School for university.

Library staff are available throughout the day and the library catalogue can be searched from devices within School, or from home.
