Boys aged 11-16
Our School is a community where success is based upon aspiring to personal best rather than the pursuit of narrowly-defined targets.
Choosing a school for your son is a really exciting time but it can also be a little daunting. The Admissions section of our website offers you a wealth of practical information about how to join the School; from key dates and timelines, to details about our entrance exam and interviews, and how to apply for assistance with fees.
Joining at 10+
Boys in Year 5 have the opportunity to sit our 10+ Advance Place examination for deferred entry to the First Year (Year 7) at 11+. It assists parents who feel their son is ready to sit a formal exam and who wish to reduce the complexities and uncertainties of the 11+ assessments in Year 6.
The closing date for registrations for the 10+ Advance Place exam for deferred entry to the First Year (Year 7) in September 2028 is 1 October 2026.

4. Supporting Reference
We shall write to your son’s current headteacher in advance of the Entrance exam to request a confidential report in support of his application.

Candidates who demonstrate potential in the written assessments are invited for interview. The interviews play a key role in our decision-making and enable us to get to know the boys as people and to explore not only their academic and all-round potential, but also their ‘fit’ with our Hampton ethos and values. Candidates meet separately with a member of our teaching staff for around 20 minutes.
6. Offers & Acceptances
Around 35 places are offered each year. The results of the assessment process are emailed at the beginning of December and acceptances required early March the following year.
Boys who are not successful are invited to sit the 11+ exam completely afresh in Year 6.
