Earlier this week I was the Headmaster of the Pre-Prep & Prep for the whole day. First, I started off introducing myself to all the Forms in the Prep and then I had some meetings with the old Headmaster and Mrs Howard to sort out my day. I was able then to write Certificates of Distinction for the teachers and I enjoyed handing them out. The teachers were overjoyed to receive the surprises I had organised for them. The day continued with handing out Excellence Points badges with Mrs Howard followed by a special lunch I hosted in my office with one invited guest from each year group. It was really fun to enjoy the food with them. After that I shared lunch duty with Madame Houghton but even though she is French we spoke English! In the afternoon I got taken with Miss Willis to the Pre-Prep to view their Open Homework projects and I read the children some stories. Finally, I had my photos taken to place in the ROAR! magazine later in the term. Overall, being Headmaster was one of the best times I have had in school so far!

News from Mr Salt - Head of Games

Reception

A ‘harvesty’ week of learning and fun in Reception, we celebrated the season with a harvest-themed week full of exploration and creativity. We were thrilled to welcome Mr Smith for storytime, where he read, The Runaway Pea by Kjartan Poskitt. The children giggled through the pea’s adventurous journey and engaged in thoughtful discussions about vegetables and recycling — sparking curiosity about how plants grow.

Year 2

Year 2 have had another action-packed week at school. In maths we have been continuing our focus on addition and subtraction, learning strategies how to add when crossing the ten. We were all so impressed when the children were nimbly able to combine their number bonds to ten knowledge and partitioning skills to complete their calculations. This will stand them in good stead when the numbers and calculations start to get more sophisticated…
