The Shell Eco-Marathon is one of the world’s leading student engineering competitions and brings together Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths students to design, build and operate energy efficient vehicles. Although mainly aimed at Engineering undergraduates, Hampton is proud to mix in with these higher institutions. As a well-known competition, participation is a great way to further your interest and enhance any UCAS application or interview for STEM subjects, especially engineering.

Particularly impressive achievements to date have been: the design, modelling, and refinement of the aerodynamics of the car body, using 3D CAD software and flow simulation carried out by a Sixth Form pupil; also, the design of the chassis, inspired by the lighting rig in the theatre, which was put together by a Hamptonian who went on to secure a degree apprenticeship at Jaguar Land Rover.
