Those that stand still are left behind.
Fifteen years after leaving Hampton, we were delighted to welcome back Andrew McHutchon OH (2005), who gave a fascinating insight into his career with McLaren Racing, when he joined us in assembly today.
After leaving Hampton, Andrew was awarded a PhD, Artificial Intelligence at the University of Cambridge before joining McLaren Racing as a Senior Data Scientist, where he’s worked for nearly six years.
Andrew spoke about his time at Hampton and advised current pupils to:
Aim high, target a job you enjoy and accept when you are wrong!
He also brought with him racing driver Fernando Alonso’s helmet and a retired racing car steering wheel for pupils to look at.
After Assembly, he was interviewed by Hampton Radio and took part in a Careers Lunch with pupils interested in an engineering career.
