Welcome to Hampton School Admissions, we are delighted that you are considering Hampton School for your son.
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and to minimise the impact that any further restrictions might have on exams and interviews, we are making some changes to our admissions procedures this year.
Our priority remains the wellbeing of the young people involved in our entrance procedures and we wish to provide an assessment process that is fair, consistent and accessible. We are also mindful that our arrangements should be as Covid-secure as possible.
Previously, applicants for Hampton have sat our bespoke written papers in English, Maths and Reasoning. This year, in response to Covid-19, all boys applying to join Hampton at the entry points listed below will be required to sit the ISEB pre-test during autumn term 2020. Our decision to use the ISEB pre-test has been made after careful consideration and in agreement with other leading independent schools.
- 11+ for First Year (Year 7) entry in September 2021
- 13+ for Third Year (Year 9) entry in September 2022
- 13+ for Third Year (Year 9) entry in September 2023
The ISEB pre-test is an online multiple-choice test in English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-verbal Reasoning. Further information about the test is available on the ISEB website HERE
Some boys will be able to sit the ISEB online assessments at their current school. However, if your son is unable to do this at his school then he will be able to sit the assessments at Hampton on Saturday 28 November 2020 or Saturday 5 December 2020.
Please note that it is not possible to apply for both 11+ and 13+ entry – only one application route can be followed. All boys are assessed during Year 6 and offers for separate 11+ and 13+ entry points are made in February.
Details about the changes to our admissions procedures are available below (please note that these changes apply for the 2020-21 academic year only).
We have also made some changes to our on-site 10+ Advance Place assessments for candidates wishing to be considered for a place in the First Year (Year 7) with effect from September 2022. Please click HERE for further information.

Hampton is committed to broadening access through our wide-reaching means-tested bursary programme.
