Welcome to the Second Year Blog!

Everyone has definitely enjoyed the extra-long weekend this week; a well needed opportunity to recharge the batteries mid-way through this long half-term!  This week, our Form Charity reps have been meeting to discuss their ideas for fundraising events and we look forward to hearing all about them soon! There was also the launch of some Eurovision fundraising fun to get involved in, and we have an individual fundraising story to celebrate too!

MERITS

A big milestone reached this week – well done! Let Mrs Owen know when you reach your next 10.

AMAZING FUNDRAISING

A huge well done to Joseph (2J) for raising an impress £2,300 for JDRF, the leading charity for type 1 diabetes research.  Joseph set himself a challenge to shoot (and make!) 10,000 baskets throughout the month of April. It was a very high target and Joseph’s dedication saw him outside every day through sun, rain and even some snow and to hit his target in the last day of the month. What a brilliant achievement, and a big thank you to everyone that supported Joseph’s efforts!

FORM CHARITY

Form Charity and Modern Languages are running a Eurovision charity fundraiser again this year! Pupils who wish to participate should click on to the Firefly page linked below where they can sign up, and will then be assigned a country.  All pupils assigned the winning country will get a prize!!  Participation costs £1 which they should pay to either Form Tutors, their Languages teacher, or Ms Iredale next to room 12 on the Languages corridor.

All funds raised will be going to our four elected Form Charity partners, namely Water aid, C.A.L.M x F.C Not Alone, ZSL London Zoo and Shooting Star Children’s Hospice.

The Firefly page also has all the songs, which may or may not be to your taste, but it’s all in the name of putting the fun back in fundraising!

A final reminder to give our current competition a go – entries close next week! The challenge is to get creative and imagine yourself as an interior designer! You have a budget of £1000 to design the ultimate teenager’s bedroom. You will need to consider the cost of paint/wall paper, furniture, wall fixings etc. Send in your design, including costings to r.kugele@hamptonschool.org.uk.
