It has been a chilly week at School, but the First Year boys certainly don’t seem to have been deterred from lots of time on the 3G and throwing themselves into School life as wholeheartedly as ever!

Sport

Well done to all the boys on some great fixture results last weekend. A particular well done to the rugby boys who made a mammoth journey to meet Warwick School half way for their fixture. Thank you to Ollie D for this great match report:

Last Friday the Hampton Under 12 A, B and C teams travelled to play some strong Warwick sides. After a good performance from all three teams the end results were that the A team lost 5-6, but the B team kept their 100% record by winning 5-3. After going behind 0-1 the B team did not give up and a last first half try from Eshan Mir meant they went into the break 1-1. In the second half the B team showed some great plays, including a superb try from William Wallace and some impressive rucking skills. Sadly the B team conceded at the very end, but it did not affect the win.

It was great to see a number of the boys taking part in their first Basketball fixture on Monday, too. There are so many sports on offer and now is the time to try them out!

Good luck to the boys taking part in chess matches today against KCS and Sutton.

Also, we wish the boys playing against Campion School and Abingdon the best of luck with their fixtures over the weekend.

Science Fair

Boys are invited to participate in the School Science Fair. Competitors may work individually or in teams on a Science Project of their choice. Competitors will present their experiment and/or findings at the Science Fair during lunch time on Tuesday 26 March. Entry forms are available from the Physics Department. Entries to be handed to Mrs. White in the Physics Department by Friday 1 February.

Merits

A reminder that merits are still up for grabs and should be collected from Mr Hill on Monday and Thursday break times!

Weekly Conundrum

Last week’s conundrum proved a little more of a challenge, well done to those boys who had a go, though! Hopefully a few more will get this week’s topical offering:

Tutee of the week

Some of the boys have been helping out with Visitors Afternoons and Sports Scholarship Assessments this week and a huge thank you to all of you – you were superb ambassadors for the School. A huge well done to Adi T, who has been named this week’s Tutee of the Week on account of his help this week and the generally positive attitude he has shown to School life this term – he is always getting involved in clubs and giving everything a go!

Evensong

Some of the boys are also taking part in Evensong at Winchester Cathedral next week. This will be a very special and exciting occasion for them, so we do hope that it goes well and that everyone enjoys having the opportunity to sing in such a magnificent setting.

Match Report

It would be lovely to have some match reports sent in over the weekend, so do set your mind to a spot of sports journalism over the weekend if it takes your fancy!
