Second Year Character Day
Character Day once again proved a fun and colourful opportunity to promote reading and raise funds for Form Charity. Second Year boys arrived in a range of impressive costumes based on their favourite book characters. Literary figures walking the corridors ranged from detectives such as Poirot and Sherlock Holmes to the armoured bear in The Golden Compass, Iorek Byrnison, and Mr Phillips as Huckleberry Finn.
The winner of the ‘Best Costume’ was Tom Banks who made an excellent Poirot. Also taking place during the day was a visit from writer Jon Robinson, who spoke to the First and Second Years about his trilogy of popular young-adult novels, before leading creative writing workshops for budding authors.
Organiser of the day, Mr Paul Thomas, said:
Jon was a very engaging speaker and I sure the boys will have been inspired by his advice and writing tips. There were plenty of impressive outfits on display today and lots of money was raised for good causes.
