First Year Blog

The snow has been in full force over the last few days, but I know the boys have enjoyed the novelty of the white fields and the wintery look that the school has taken on. Can I encourage everybody to make sure they stay wrapped up warm this weekend? Thank you all for your understanding regarding Parents’ Evening this week, and we look forward to seeing you all on 30 April for our rescheduled event. In the meantime, you can, of course, contact your son’s Form Tutor if you have any questions.

It was World Book Day today, and there has been a distinct literary feel to the First Year this week.  We have, this morning, enjoyed a very entertaining talk from author Jon Robinson, who regaled us with anecdotes from his life and the boys were amused, enthused and inspired by his words, and many thanks to Mr Thomas for organising the event.

I’d like to take this opportunity to announce that this week’s Tutee of the week is George B, due to his all-round enthusiasm both in class and in co-curricular activities. Well done on this thoroughly deserved award George.

Well done to all those boys who participated in school sport last weekend, there was a spirited win for the U12C team, and a narrow loss for the U12B team on the Football front.  Congratulations also to Leo H whose cricket team played at the home of cricket – Lord’s – last weekend and finished 3rd out of 33 teams! An excellent achievement – well done Leo! Although the weather may play havoc with the fixtures over the next few days, I hope that whatever the boys are up to, they enjoy themselves!
