First Year Blog

1st Year Blog

Welcome back after half term. I hope that all the First Year boys enjoyed a relaxing holiday and feel back into the swing of things at School.

Wednesday and Thursday saw a number of boys holding offers for entry in September 2018 or September 2019 come in for visitor’s events, which included a Q&A session in The Hammond Theatre with some of our current First Years.  Patrick H, Chibby N, Rex B, Zac D, Ishaan D, Rohan C, Rory P and Seb P fielded questions on as diverse a range of topics as homework demands, co-curricular activities and favourite trips.  They were excellent ambassadors for the School.

Future Anthony Horowitz or William Shakespeare’s amongst the First Year boys may wish to consider entering the Creative Writing Competition coming up this term. The deadline to enter is Wednesday 28 February and entries can include poetry, prose or play-writing. I think writing this blog counts as my creative endeavour for each week, and could perhaps serve as inspiration for one or two budding creative writers out there? I’m sure the boys will produce much finer work. Boys can ask their English teacher for more details if required.

HOT OFF THE PRESS: News has just come through that the U12Bs football team are through to the ESFA Cup Semi-Final after an extra-time winner from Alpha. Well done to the team and best of luck in the next round. A full report of the game will be in next week’s edition

Finally, can I wish congratulations to Rory P who is Tutee of the Week. He receives this for his all-round contribution to school life, especially co-curricular activities, and his helpful input to this week’s Visitors’ Afternoon. Well done Rory!

I look forward to seeing how the boys get on in this weekend’s busy schedule of fixtures. Good luck boys!
