Third Year Blog
The Christmas lights are on and the Festive Season is upon us. 3F were delighted to be given the green light to decorate their Form Room after weeks of anticipation.
All Third Year Forms are gearing up for the latest round of the Inter-Form Competition taking place next week. Volleyball provides the mechanism for distribution of points towards the prestigious and highly sought after Wills’ Cup – named after two recently departed Third Year tutors. There is still time to get some practice in at lunchtimes, or perfect team tactics, as the competition is not until Thursday 7 December – so you all still have time to work on your “spike” technique!
“Break a leg” Tom S (3H) who has a part in the Rose Theatre’s Christmas production, ‘Alice in Wonderland’. He is busy in rehearsals five days a week this month. Tickets are selling fast, so book soon if you want to catch one of his performances.
Mrs Ziegler has been impressed with two of her students completing extra work recently. She received a massive translation on Themistocles from Pallav B(3J), and Ryan B (3J) has been ploughing through English-Latin extensions like there’s no tomorrow!
Football Match Report:
Last Saturday, The U14D team played against Chigwell’s U14B team. The Hampton team passed the ball around well and created many chances. Jamie L scored first with a lovely finish from a left sided cross from Luke M. A few minutes later, Luke got on the scoresheet with a close range goal. In the second-half, Joel A scored a tap-in from a low cross from Jamie. In the closing minutes of the game, Chigwell pulled a goal back. However, The Lions stayed calm and won the game 3-1.
As we move into the Christmas period, it is worth pausing to think what we can do to help those around us in the local and global community. Many of us live relatively comfortable and even privileged lives and this time of year presents us with an opportunity to reflect on how we use our good fortune to benefit others. At Hampton, we aim to facilitate charitable giving to a range of worthy causes. This Christmas, Mrs Samuel has arranged for a Charity Foodbank Collection in each Form Room that will be transferred to Hounslow Community Foodbox before the end of term. She has asked for boys to collect and donate any of the following items:
- Long-life milk
- Small bottles cooking oil
- Tomato sauce
- Tinned vegetables, peas, beans, carrots
- Tinned custard
- Christmas puddings
- Corn beef
- Tinned fruit
- Hot dogs
- Corned beef
- Shower gel
- Cranberry sauce
- Toys – open to any offerings but educational items like pencils, crayons, colouring books , paints, books would be helpful.
Thanks for your support!
