TALK! – Sir Francis Jacobs

The School welcomed prominent lawyer Professor Sir Francis Jacobs KCMG QC.

Sir Francis is Professor of Law at King’s College London and was Advocate General at the European Court of Justice from 1988 until 2006.  Before his appointment to the European Court of Justice in 1988, Sir Francis combined an academic career as Professor of European Law in the University of London with practice at Fountain Court Chambers, specialising in European Law.

Sir Francis spoke to an audience of Hamptonians about the impact of Brexit on European Law. He called for a unified European approach to refugees and migrants and the requirement to retain ties with the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.  Following the Talk! he praised his attentive audience:

Thank you [for hosting me]: I am impressed by the fact that there was such a large turnout, and so many questions – all of them good!
