First Year Blog
The nights may well be drawing in, but there has been no end of exciting activities and sporting fixtures that the First Year boys have been getting stuck in to.
To begin with, Mrs Peattie would like to congratulate Findlay B who has been named Tutee of the Week. This is due to his excellent enthusiastic attitude across the board and also his superb contributions to the Geography trip on Wednesday. Well done Findlay!
Once again the boys were out and about this week – attending whichever trip they didn’t go on last week! So, one half of the year heading out the South Downs (a little more wind swept than the previous week!) and the other half of the year enjoying their History trip to Battle and Bodium. I hope the boys all enjoyed both of the trips, they really are an excellent experience.
On the sporting front this week, Rex B was selected to represent Hampton in the U14 fixture against Harrow. He scored a number of second placed finishes swimming against opposition older than himself. Well done Rex!
Dan Cubbon has this report from an exciting fixture last week for the U12 C Football team against the KCS A Team:
“It was an unfortunate 6-3 defeat which started with an early goal for the opponents. We held our heads up and got a goal 5 minutes after, scored by Saganan T. Another two went in for KCS as the half ended 3-1. The defence had a very good second half despite conceding 3. Even though it was pretty likely we would lose, we got the game back to 5-3 and built some confidence. The other two goals scored by Felix V and another by Saganan T, but KCS turned out too good for us, scoring another and ending the game 6-3. Honourable mentions to Joe E and Rohan C and Man of the Match for Hampton was Saganan.”
Meanwhile Miss Bedford tells me that the D Team had a very successful first match against KCS, with a 5-1 victory. Despite the score line, it was an evenly matched fixture, with goals scored by Naavya S, James D, and a well deserved hat-trick for Leo H. The whole team played very well and got our season off to an excellent start – we’re looking forward to more great matches over the next two terms.
I wish the Football teams all the best in their fixtures today and tomorrow – hopefully we can hear all about them next week!
All that remains is to say that I know that all of us on the First Year team are looking forward to welcoming you to school next week for Pastoral Forum. A reminder that Mrs Peattie’s lectures will be at 7 and 8pm and run for half an hour. Those of you that booked a slot to see your son’s Form Tutor should be informed of your designated slot very shortly by Mrs Peattie.
I hope you all enjoy a pleasant weekend.
Mr T. Hill
