National Schools Regatta

Hampton Rowers won an impressive two gold, one silver and two bronze medals over the course of three days at this year’s National Schools Regatta.

The School entered 17 crews into the annual race, with the J14 crews racing on Friday, while the rest of the crews raced on Saturday and Sunday. There were a number of remarkable results over the weekend, none more so than in the J14 2nd Octuples category, where Hampton finished first and second.

On the Saturday, all the School’s eights raced and they all qualified for their respective AB semi-finals. The School’s 1st VIII raced impressively in their final, finishing fifth, meanwhile there were a number of medals picked up in the younger age categories.

After strong time-trial performances, both the J15 2nd  VIII and the J16 2nd VIII progressed through to their finals. The J16 crew emulated their time-trial performance, crossing the line in 3rd to secure a bronze medal, while the J15 athletes won their event convincingly to take home a gold medal, along with the Bluefriars Cup.

On the final day of the race, Hampton’s J16 1st Coxless Four also medalled, winning bronze in the Windsor Cup.
