First Year Blog
I fear that, following Wednesday’s theatre workshop, it may now be more difficult to distinguish between the occasions when your offspring are giving skilful demonstrations of the dramatic combative arts, and the occasions on which they are genuinely exacting physical retribution for a perceived sibling slight! The boys seemed to really enjoy the opportunity to learn how to appear to kick, slap and pull hair without actually following through with any of these actions! I hope that these skills will be called upon in their Second Year Drama lessons next week.
I know that the boys will be in the midst of receiving back their results and grades from last week’s exams. Mrs Peattie would like to pass on her heartfelt congratulations to all the boys for their efforts during exam week, and she hopes that they can now relax a little, and enjoy the last few weeks of term. There are a number of exciting trips planned – starting with next week’s Physics trip to Winchester Science Centre and Planetarium. The Inter-Form Founders’ Cup will be building to a climax too as the merits are added up and the final inter-form event: The Swimming Gala, takes place in the final week of term.
Congratulations to Leanesh Sivakumar who has been selected to represent Team Spelthorne in the Table Tennis event of the Surrey Youth Games this weekend – good luck from all of us Leanesh!
William Aust has given me this report from the Cricket B Team: “On Saturday, the U12 Bs played a difficult match against Trinity. Having won the toss, Trinity decided to bowl first. We batted quite well throughout but wickets continued to fall at regular intervals. However, their star bowler came on towards the end of the innings and managed to get 3 wickets in one over, meaning we finished on a total of 104 runs. Then it was our turn to field. We did manage to claim a few wickets, with some great catching and bowling but sadly it wasn’t enough. Trinity managed to score the winning run with a few overs to spare. Congratulations to all of the players making their B team debut and we are looking forward to the next match.”
