3rd Year Blog

After a cold spell, the sun has found its way through the clouds and it is finally starting to feel like the Summer Term. Cricket, tennis, and athletics are being played across the School fields and Third Years are making their mark during school fixtures against other schools.

An athletics plug on behalf of Mr Bolton:

Monday 15th May sees the start of Hampton’s internal heptathlon competition. In the absence of an external fixture, boys from the First to Fourth Years are invited to head out to the Athletics area on the school fields each lunchtime next week for 12:45 pm to take part in one, several, or all of the following events: hurdles; shot putt; long Jump; high jump; and the 800m.

Hats off to Farhan Hussain (3F) who won the “Outstanding Individual Delegate” Award at the Final of the ROAR Challenge Dragons Den on Monday. His awareness of the financial details for his team’s social enterprise “The Cookie Cartel” earned him the award. Well dome to Farhan, Lucas Hutton, Tom Holland, and Chris Austin for their superb presentation to the judges at the HSBC building in Canary Wharf. The remaining 14 participants in the ROAR Challenge from Hampton were also there to support. Across the four Hampton teams involved, over £500 was raised towards education in rural India. Four schools took part in the challenge raising £2143 overall – a superb achievement!

Jack Murphy, Matthew Cresswell, Nicholas Lee, Vlad Penzyev and Jack Lucas all took part in the InterForm code breaking challenge and completed it 20 seconds faster than the teachers!

Well done to the unbeaten J14B rowing octuple which came first at the recent Bedford Regatta.

Vlad Penzyev (3A) took part in Maths and Programming battles with the London School of Mathematics against St. Paul’s and both of his teams won!
