Second Year Blog

2nd Year Blog

This week the boys have been busy reviewing study skills in preparation for the Summer Exams. The boys have experimented with mind-maps and flash cards and have drawn up revision timetables to help them to balance the demands of their studies. We have also discussed the importance of sport and relaxation time within their schedules. Indeed, we like to practise what we preach, and it has been another busy sporting week, notably for our cricketers, tennis players and athletes.  Many thanks to Sandy, who has summed up the U13A Cricket Team’s Surrey Cup match, which they played on Monday:

“Shrewsbury house batted first and scored 155 runs. Olly Coles (2J) took 2 wickets, Arjun Bhat (2H) took one and Kyle Seth (2W) took the last. We were all out for 86, with Thomas De Gruchy (2W) top scoring, with 16. Commiserations to both Kyle Seth and Freddie Seddon, who both got 0. All in all, the match was a valuable learning experience against a very good team, and we look forward to our next match against St. Benedict’s” – Sandy Mitchell (2J)

Some members of 2J have been letting off steam by getting together to make music:

“I have been working on a song with the help of Milo Heard and Luke Michels. I have written the lyrics and am on the drums, Milo is main vocals and Luke on keyboard. We are looking to performing it in the winter Rock Concert next year.” Xandy Slater (2J)

We look forward to seeing you up on stage!

Any Second Year boy who would like to get their creative juices flowing is invited to submit pieces to be considered for publication in this year’s Lion Print magazine:

We will consider any original writing that has been done in or out of school during this academic year.
