We begin this week with news of an impressive performance by a Third a Year Hamptonian at the London Youth Games. Congratulations to Samuel Oakley (3F) won a bronze medal for judo at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. This is Samuel’s first participation in this annual tournament. He represented the borough of Richmond in the 13-15 Age Category 13-15 year olds with green belt and above of weight, 46 to 50 kilos. Well done Sam!
3A and 3F boys took part in the Basher II races at the prestigious Eton Dorney last Saturday. For Joe John and Joseph Helm it was a first ever regatta, and they were both nervous about joining boats full of experienced rowers such as Joe Trevor, Ewan McBride and Alex Saul! The races went extremely well, with Ewan and Joseph both winning their first races, defeating strong Bedford and Eton crews on the way. Joe John had a go at coxing, and says it went very well! Joseph had a bit of a nightmare in the second round of races however, as he dropped his blade halfway though the race – despite carrying on with one oar, his boat were defeated by the other fully-bladed boats!
Several 3F boys held or attended street parties for the Queen’s 90th birthday, with Cameron Fraser bringing out his patriotic side for this special occasion. Max Elliott took advantage of the celebratory atmosphere, and performed with guitar and voice at his local party!
In Drama, Taran Chawla (3F) was back at it again with a lead role in another acclaimed production, this time as Long John Silver in an adaptation of Treasure Island for the school.
Despite being the summer, footballers Freddy Hodgson (3F) and Ben Collier (3B) are looking forward to their first training match on Sunday for the world youth cup, which is in Sweden. Good luck boys!
Finally, congratulations to Sean Cruice (3A) won 3 prizes, along with all other prize winners ahead of the Third Year prize giving evening next week.
